ETERNAL SECURITY
What happens after you die? Can you even know for sure?
There are a lot of things that bring us comfort, right? It could be shelter, affirmation from a friend or family member, or maybe even our dog. We love to have something that we can cling to at the end of the day that will let us know we are safe in this life. But, what about the next? Can we know for sure where we will spend eternity?

What Do I Need to be Saved From?
God is a holy God, therefore, He cannot tolerate sin. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". This means that we have all fallen short of the standard that God has set: perfection. Later, in Romans 6:23 the Bible also tells us that the "wages of sin is death". This means that because of our sin our "wages", what we deserve, is death. This does not seem like the best situation for us, does it?

Can't I Just Save Myself?
Ephesians 2:8 says that we can only be saved "by grace through faith...it is the gift of God"; verse nine further emphasizes this idea when it says that our salvation is "not of works". Our good will not and cannot outweigh our bad. Plain and simple, we are not good enough to get to God on our own. We cannot save ourselves, but thankfully there is Someone who can.

If I Can't Save Myself, Who Can Save Me?
The situation our sin puts us in is a very horrifying one, but God has provided a way, one way, for us to be SAVED from sin's penalty. The second half of Romans 6: 23 tells us that "the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". Over 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ came to this earth, lived a perfect sinless life, and died on a cross in your place for sin that He did not commit. That's how much He loves you! He died for your sin, so you wouldn't have to. Trusting in Jesus Christ to save you from sin's penalty is the only way to be saved. God wants you to know for sure where you will go after you die, to have eternal security.
